Abstract:
Odor associated with Tubli sewage treatment plant (STP) is common concern of the public. Due to the increase in development around the STP more people are exposed to the odors. The low detection threshold value for the odorous gases would make controlling the odor dispersion a quite challenging. In this research Tubli STP odor problem is evaluated using dispersion modelling and community survey. The assessment results showed that the populated surrounding area is fallen within the STP odor influential area therefore, odor management and control measures are required. The study recommend: improved odor management plan and installation of odor monitors at the facility fence-line. Moreover, the recommendation concluded that the most suitable control measures for Tubli STP would be a combination of installation of chemical scrubber for the inlet chamber and effective vegetative buffer zone which will dilute the odorous gases to considerable level.
