Abstract:
This study evaluates the impact of national culture and information system quality (ISQ) on SMEs' CC implementation in the Kingdom of Bahrain. To achieve this, the researcher has utilized structural equation modeling (SEM) to test various hypotheses and relied on a quantitative approach throughout the research process.
The data was gathered from Bahraini SMEs that were interested in implementing CC in their businesses.
In total, 444 responses were obtained from an online questionnaire distributed to a random sample of respondents from Bahrain. A structural model (national culture and ISQ framework) was developed using factors from three strong and international models: DeLone and McLean (D&M, 2003), Integrated TAM-TOE Model (Devis et al. (1986) and Tornatzky and Fleischer (1990), and Hofstede's Four Cultural Dimensions theory (Hofstede, 1980).
This study contributes to the body of knowledge on CC by showcasing the particularities of its implementation in the Bahraini context. This research suggests that information systems quality significantly impacts the SME's behavioural aim to implement CC in Bahrain. Second, cultural factors substantially affect the SME's behavioural target to adopt CC in Bahrain. Third, technological factors positively impact Bahraini SMEs' information systems quality. Forth, organizational factors positively impact Bahraini SMEs' information systems quality. Fifth environmental factors positively impact Bahraini SMEs' information systems quality.
As this research sample only includes private sector organizations, future studies might consider other organizations and they might also consider using a broader sample size that involves several countries to better understand geographic and cultural variables pertaining to CC development.
