ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the coping strategies
experienced by Bahraini couples when they are faced with life strains in
marital and parental roles. A representative random sample was selected
consisting of 25 Bahraini married couples, who met the criteria for
inclusion in the study.
Important and relevant role strains and coping strategies were
identified. There were few statistically significant differences, however,
when husbands and wives were compared. The outcome of this study
directs the attention of health care providers to the socio-psychological
needs of their clients, as well as their physical needs. The implication is
that there is a vital need for health care providers to assess, plan,
implement and evaluate their clients' health and social needs, with a focus
on health education and health promotion.
