Abstract
Purpose- The purpose of this thesis is to examine the role of big data in decision-making process. Big data is a significant research area gaining substantial interest and attention worldwide. By utilizing available technology, big data help improves the quality of decision-making process. The thesis examined the five big data components volume, velocity, variety, veracity, and value. The thesis seeks to provide insights into how big data can enhance decision-making process ultimately contributing to improve performance and decision outcomes in the e-government sector.
Design/Methodology/Approach- The thesis followed a descriptive methodology approach, which included a review of published and unpublished scientific research literature and a questionnaire survey of 43 decision-makers in the e-government sector.
Findings- According to this study, the findings show a significant impact of big data velocity and variety on the decision-making process of e-government. Moreover, big data variables contribute to improve the decision-making process.
Practical implications- This thesis will offer decision-makers an insight into how they might adjust their approach to big data analytics to improve decision-making process.
Originality/Value- The thesis comprehensively reviews the potential of big data for decision-makers. The study will assist Bahrain e-government in making appropriate decisions on the use of big data technologies, allowing better decisions to be made.
