Abstract:
This study aimed to study the relationship between mindfulness and Mental health among Bahraini women, as well as to identify the differences in mindfulness of Bahraini women according to some demographic variables (age, marital status, profession, number of children). Moreover, the study sought to investigate the ability of the components of mindfulness in predicting mental health. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used two measures: the first one was the Mindfulness Scale developed by the researcher and the second was The Mental Health Scale developed by Abdul Khaleq (2016). The research sample consisted of (524) Bahraini females that was randomly selected from different regions of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The results of the study indicated that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between Mindfulness and Mental Health among the study sample of Bahraini women. The results also showed that the level of Mindfulness among Bahraini women was moderate. Moreover, it was found that there were statistically significant differences (a≤ 0.05) among the study sample on Mindfulness according to age in favor of the age 35 years and above, and the educational level in favor of the Postgraduate Educational Level, and Work in favor of Workers and Retirees, while the results showed no statistically significant differences (a≤ 0.05) on mindfulness that could be attributed to Marital status and Number of Children. Finally, the results showed that the five components of Mindfulness explained (39.6%) of the variance in mental health, and that the component" Responding Without Reactivity" was the strongest predictor. The study concluded with some recommendations.
