Abstract:
Climate Change is one of the most important issues that concerns the international community either states or organizations. These are trying hard to find ways to address Climate Change and its effects. The issue of Climate Change presents a threat to all forms of life on earth. The only way to address it is by collective efforts and cooperation between states under international law.
The international community held conferences, prepared Treaties and concluded agreements to address Climate Change. The Paris Agreement 2015 On Climate Change was the latest.
Therefore, this study came to analyze the text and provisions of the Paris agreement 2015 on Climate Change to find out if it came with legally binding obligations and commitments. To do that the researcher went deep into its texts from a legal perspective. It is an attempt to know the legal form of the agreement, the nature of the legal provisions it contains and the extent of its legal strength.
This study also attempted to highlight on the attitude of the Kingdom of Bahrain as one of the parties to the Paris agreement. The reason for that is to show Bahrain's efforts and responses to the legally binding provisions of the Paris agreement. Also it tried to highlight the efforts of Bahrain in combating Climate Change in general and fulfilling the obligations emerging from the Agreement and from the international legal system in general for Climate Change from the 1990s until today.
At the end of this study, the researcher adopted a number of results and recommendations that the international community may consider in future when negotiating other legal instruments related to climate change. The aim of that is to develop the current legal instruments of Climate Change and promote the international law in general. In addition to promote the efforts of The Kingdom of Bahrain regarding Climate Change responses.
Also, the researcher adopted a number of recommendations to the Bahraini legislator and the relevant authorities which aim to improve the Kingdom's efforts to address Climate Change and fulfill its international obligations under various international legal instruments related to Climate Change.
