English Abstract
Study summary:
This study aimed to build a tool to measure the performance of art education teachers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To achieve this purpose, the researcher reviewed studies related to the research topic, and prepared a preliminary list of important teaching competencies by reviewing previous literature. He then classified these competencies into eight main dimensions to evaluate the performance of art education teachers. The researcher chose the appropriate rating scale, and it was presented to a group of academic experts to ensure the apparent validity of the tool. The tool was applied to a survey sample of school principals, numbering 30 principals, to ensure the stability of the scale. The scale, which now consists of 50 paragraphs and measures seven axes, was applied to the study sample, numbering 348. The validity and stability of the tool were verified, as the alpha stability coefficient reached (0.96), which is a value that indicates the internal consistency of the scale paragraphs. The scale criteria were clarified according to the raw scores after converting them to standard scores.
In light of these results, the researcher recommends using the scale to evaluate the performance of art education teachers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by school principals and educational supervisors. He also recommends that education departments should pay attention to holding training courses to provide teachers with the teaching competencies specific to art education teachers so that these competencies become ingrained in the teachers’ souls.
