ABSTRACT:
Sustainability became the buzz word not only in the corporate level but also in governmental level. Countries and companies are looking for methods to reach sustainability goals. The green economy concept is a global effort based on transforming the current economy into a sustainable economy based on the implementation of sustainable development goals SDGs and their realization in the near future.
The current study aims to find out the meaning of green economy and sustainable development and explore the policies applied in TAMCON Construction Company to achieve sustainable development. The main purpose of this study is to focus on the relationship of green economy and sustainable development in the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially in construction industry.
The study uses qualitative research (descriptive analytical approach) by collecting data through in-depth interviews with selected staff from TAMCON Construction Company. The research findings indicate that the green economy has three dimensions as they are found in the definition of sustainable development in three basic dimensions: economic, environment, and social. In addition, it was confirmed through this study that there is a relationship between the green economy and sustainable development, as the green economy is part and a way to achieve sustainable development goals on various aspects, especially in the construction companies in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It was also found that TAMCON Construction Company sought to achieve sustainable development goals in accordance with the 2030 goals that the Kingdom of Bahrain seeks to achieve.
In this regard, the study recommends that to work on preparing and preparing the employees working in the construction facilities and directing their attention to the importance of the green economy and sustainable development. As well as a recommendation for decision makers to make more effort to develop these aspects of the employees. And encouraging companies and suppliers in the Kingdom of Bahrain to bring in products that conserve energy and reduce pollution.
