Abstract :
The study aimed to identify the vocational interests of female students towards their future careers. It also sought to investigate the level of self-esteem of those students and its relationship to their vocational interests. The study was applied on a sample of 160 female students at the intermediate level of education in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The sample was randomly selected from the all the governorates in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The researcher employed two instruments, namely, the Vocational Interests Scale that was developed by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States in 2014 and the Self-Esteem Scale, developed by Dusooqi in 2004. The results of the study showed that the vocational interests of the study sample were higher than the means of the norms developed by the GCC study, indicating that the vocational interests towards future careers of the female students at the intermediate level of education in the Kingdom of Bahrain was relatively high. The results also showed that the self- esteem of the study sample was low when dealing with others. Finally, the results revealed that there was no significant correlation between self-esteem and areas of vocational interests, except for the area of technical and skillful interests, that showed a negative significant correlation at 0.01 level with the total score of self-esteem.
