الملخص الإنجليزي
Abstract : Low productivity, low quality, project delay, and cost overrun are the four main problems facing the world construction industry. These problems are due to a lack of efficient collaboration and information management. With Building Information Modeling (BIM), it is about bringing together all data to create a robust set of information. If implemented, BIM may offer a solution for problems facing the Bahraini construction industry. In Bahrain, yet there is no clear vision of the level of BIM adoption. Hence, the aim of this study to investigate the level of awareness, usage, and adoption of BIM. Moreover, to identify the key indicators that drive BIM adoption. With a detailed literature review, 128 indicators are identified and grouped into seven groups: "Technology", "Process", "People", "Environment", "Organization", "Policy", and "BIM adoption". The study was carried out using quantitative approaches of the Delphi method and questionnaire survey. A total of 272 completed responses were collected and analyzed in three parts. The first part is a descriptive analysis of the respondent's attributes using SPSS25 software. The second part is the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique using SPSS 25 and AMOS software. Moreover, the third part is a MANOVA analysis to find the effect of the respondent's attributes on the BIM components using SPSS25 software. The results of the questionnaire indicate that more than 72% of the respondents are aware of BIM. However, only 39% are using it in their work, which forms an obstacle for the BIM adoption in the kingdom of Bahrain. The structural model shows that to increase the adoption to higher levels, the "Environment" indicators, and partially "People" indicators are the leading indicators driving for BIM adoption with path coefficient value of 0.280 and 0.332, respectively. "Environment" related indicators describe all external forces, including, for example, globalization and competitive strategies, market demand; international flexibility to market; and BIM benefits. While "People" related indicators are supporting individual characteristics; and the need for innovation and the diffusion of innovation, which means that to enhance the BIM adoption in Bahrain, two pillars to depend on, external forces and people. This result is supported by the MANOVA analysis, where the "Environment" and "People" components constitute a common factor affected by the professionals' attributes. It is hoped that these findings will guide efforts to increase the level of BIM adoption in the Bahraini construction industry in the future.
