How Does Transformational Leadership Inspire Innovation in the Workplace: A Case of an Industrial Firm in Bahrain

Abstract: Bahrain's industrial sector has full-fledged to convert in the most significant provider to non-oil Gross Domestic Product. This study examines the impact of the transformational leadership practiced by company on innovation in the workplace of the industrial sector in Bahrain. This rescarch study has focused on examining transformational leaders who envoy the authority, inspire participative decision- making, and feel empowered to complete the tasks with a supreme collective identity and cohesiveness. A self-administrated questionnaire is evolved and validated where the study is implemented on 186 employees working in Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) organization. The outcome confirms the significance positive influence of the Transformational leadership on Innovation in the workplace in organizations like Aluminum Bahrain (Alba). The finding proved the positive and significant relationships between transformational leadership and empowerment as well as support for innovation and a positive relationship between support for innovation and innovation in the workplace in addition to the positive impact between empowerment and innovation in the workplace. Furthermore, the relationship between Empowerment and Innovation in the workplace is ranked number one due to its strong correlation coefficient followed by the relationship between Support for innovation and Innovation in the workplace then Transformational leadership and Innovation in the workplace, Transformational leadership and Empowerment and finally Transformational leadership and Support for innovation. Therefore, Empowerment is the key element for achieving innovation in the workplace so leaders in industrial organizations should focus their attention on empowering employees by delegating more autonomy to their employees. This study deems one of the few of its kind undertaken in Bahrain's industrial sector context. There are limitations like many other studies, such as non and low-educated workers in the industrial sector, the sample size is relatively small, the time-constrained and the difficulty to access data from industrial companies.
