Human Resources Management Practices Contribution to Employee's Satisfaction: A Case of the Saudi Oil and Gas Industry

Abstract : The study revealed that Human resource management (HRM) practices had a significant positive impact on employee satisfaction. It has been found that these practices help in increasing employees' productivity and satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to find out how managing human resources practices contributes to employee satisfaction. This study has considered a mixed research design in which 271 respondents have been considered for the quantitative analysis. Ten managers have been considered for the qualitative analysis employed in several Saudi oil and gas industries. The secondary data literature sources have identified that factors essentially contribute to employee satisfaction, mainly learning and development programs, career development opportunities, the effectiveness of HRM practices, rewards and benefits, and work culture and environment. The findings of this study revealed that the factors that affect employee satisfaction vary depending on the industry and the organization's size. The quantitative analysis has shown these variables are strongly correlated with employee satisfaction within the oil and gas industry. The limitation of this study is that it may narrow its scope and the level of research that it should have. Thus, there is a chance that may weaken the data collection implementation. Furthermore, the study suggested that practical approaches and strategies should be in place to ensure higher employee satisfaction in line with the identified variables. This research might include insight into organizations in which following practical HRM practices could lead to a higher level of employee satisfaction. Therefore, it would enhance the overall productivity of employees and organizations. It has been recommended that modern technology-based compensation and performance appraisals be given to employees to improve their performance and increase their level of satisfaction.
