The Role of Strategic Agility and Competitiveness in Operational performance: A Case of Banking Sector in Saudi Arabia

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to explore the consequence of strategic agility and competitiveness in operational performance of retail banking sector in Saudi Arabia. Employing this concept to one of the most important and economical sector to a country such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a vital point through exploring the relation levels between strategic agility factors (the ability to utilize opportunity, flexibility and speed and environmental adaptability) and competitive capability factors (creativity, product quality improvement and price flexibility). In addition, to mark the statistical consequence of strategic agility factors with the operation performance at (α ≤ 0.05) significant level.
This study applied a descriptive research design, that takes the form of the cross section and tends to study the research at a given point of time. it employed a quantitative research approach based mainly on a survey. The primary data was collected through an online Likert scale type survey with 5 scales of rating (from strongly disagree to strongly agree), while secondary data was utilized through the academic books of research methods and some other sources like scientific search engines. The sample size of 170 were selected randomly (Random sampling) from different retail banks in Saudi Arabia while the survey was sent to 240 targeted respondent. A statistical analysis of the explored data has been used to examine the relation between the variables as well as finding the degree of association among them, while regression analysis was used to examine the variables through the use of the SPSS software.
The outcome of the study revealed that strategic agility through its diemensions has significant relationship with the competitive capabilities factors, in addition that strategic agility has direct impact on the performance of the operation in retail banking sector.
