Abstract:
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an emotional-behavioral counseling program aimed at reducing psychological stress among a sample of mothers of children with learning disabilities. The researcher used the quasi-experimental method to achieve the objectives of the study. Ten mothers were randomly selected and trained systematically to use methods to reduce and cope with stress and some supportive therapeutic techniques. The counseling program consists of eleven sessions; Two sessions were delivered per week. Each session lasted sixty minutes. Within the framework of this quantitative study, the researcher prepared a questionnaire on psychological stress among mothers of children with learning difficulties, in addition to a counseling program. After verifying the psychometric properties of the research tools, the researcher applied them. The results of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the sample members in the average scores of the pre- and post-evaluations in favor of the post-test. Focusing on the study results, we detected higher improvements in the post test. The researcher applied the follow-up evaluation one month after the end of the counseling program to the sample members. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the post-test and the follow-up assessment at the level of (0.05) in favor of the follow-up assessment.
