Abstract :
The study aimed at identifying the factors that affect the evaluation of performance of university teachers as perceived by university students in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and to reveal the differences in student ratings of the said factors that are attributed to sex, specialization, academic year and the student's level of achievement as measured by the GPA.
The sample of the study consisted of 385 students at the Bachelor level, randomly chosen from public and private universities of Bahrain, and the researcher used the descriptive method to design a questionnaire, the final version of which contained 39 items, within four dimensions.
Results of the study showed that the highest factor that determines the evaluation of performance of faculty members from the perspective of university students is Methods of Teaching, with an importance value of (84.6%), followed by Classroom Assessment (84.4%), Personal and Administrative Qualities (82.8%) and Lesson Planning (79.2%).
The results also showed significant differences in student ratings of the factors affecting the evaluation of performance of faculty members that are attributed to sex in Methods of Teaching, Classroom Assessment and the Personal and Administrative Qualities, for the sake of female students. The results, however, did not show significant differences in student ratings of the factors that might be attributed to specialization, academic year and the student's level of achievement. Based on these results, the researcher made some recommendations and suggestions.
