Abstract:
Training and development are a main function of human resource, as it mainly concerns about employee’s performance and productivity of each individual and group in any organization. This study aimed at identifying the impact of job training and development on employee’s performance in different Bahraini Islamic banks. Literature review, based on other scholars input to the subject, based on training and development function, training and development terminology, process of training programs, training needs assessment, ensuring employee readiness to the program, creating a training environment, ensuring transfer of the training program, design and selection of training methods, evaluating training programs, types and methods of training programs, importance of organizational training, employee performance definition, antecedents of employee performance, importance of employee performance, and relationship between organizational training and development and employee performance. The study adopted a qualitative research method with a case study on different Islamic banks of Bahrain, where data was collected through sampling of 10 managers and 20 employees at different Bahraini Islamic banks like ithmaar bank, Albarakah bank, KFH bank, and BISB bank. Primary data was collected using semi-directive interviews. Responses were analysed using manual analysing for qualitative research. It was observed that training and development programs has a positive impact of employees’ performance which also affect positively on the organizational overall performance. the study recommends that Islamic banks need to see training and development as an important process for the survival and successfulness of the bank that needs to be continues, and the bank should follow specific steps to have successful training program, and training and development programs should be offered to each employee and group of the bank.
