English Abstract
Abstract: The scientific research plays a pivotal role in the progress of nations. Notwithstanding, there are detrimental impacts of some practices of academic laboratories on the environment. The aim of this study is to explore the employee green behavior in academic laboratories in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Through this study, the researcher aims to explain the impact of green transformational leadership style on employee green behavior, as well as the mechanisms of how the green transformational leadership affects the green behavior of employees. This study adopted qualitative approach. Data in this study was collected via in-depth questions through virtual interviews. The purposive sampling technique was used in this study to identify the participants as the data was collected from nine individuals who work in academic laboratories in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The obtained data was analyzed using ATLAS.ti 9 software. Five themes of employee green behavior emerged: (I) conserving, (II) avoiding harm, (III) transforming, (IV) influencing others, and (V) taking initiative. It was also found that employees green behavior is stimulated when leaders showed (I) vision, (II) encouragement, (III) intellectual stimulation, (IV) high performance expectation, (V) individual support, and (VI) group goals which characterized green transformational leadership.
