English Abstract
Abstract:
The study aimed to investigate the future anxiety and its relationship with self-esteem of students with hearing disabilities in the city of Dammam, Saudi Arabia. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the investigator implemented two scales: the Future Anxiety Scale, that was developed by the investigator, and the Self-Esteem Scale for Individuals with Disablities, that was developed by Al- Hijri (2011). The sample consisted of (76) students with hearing disabilities in the secondary school.
Using the descriptive methodology and some statistical procedures, the study came up with the following results:
1- A statistically significant negative correlation, at the level of (0.01), was found between the scores of students in the study sample on the Future Anxiety Scale and their scores on the total Self-Esteem and its dimensions.
2- There were statistically significant differences, at the level of (0.05), in the mean scores of students on the Future Anxiety Scale according to the Type of Disability in favor of those with Partial Disability.
3- There were statistically significant differences, at the significance level of (0.01), in the mean scores of students on the Future Anxiety Scale that could be attributed to the Classroom variable.
Future research and some recommendations were discussed in light with the findings.
