Abstract:
This study aimed to identify the nature of the use of YouTube by the Bahraini young people, their attitudes towards voluntary work and their opinion on voluntary work and Omar Farouk's channel on YouTube. The study also aimed to identify the relationship between using the You Tube by Bahraini young people and the influence of what is published on them. The study also aimed to identify the relationship between following the voluntary work on YouTube and the willingness to volunteer and to identify the relationship between following the voluntary work on YouTube and the adequacy of the subjects published on it to encourage young people to carry out voluntary work.
The study also aimed to identify the significance of the differences in the level of following up Omar Farouk's channel on the You Tube ascribed to the demographic variables. Moreover, the study sought to analyze the content of what is presented on the channel according to different aspects including the duration of the episode, the language used, the characters, the technique used, the music and sound effects, the subject, the direction of the content, the type of issues raised and the values contained.
The study sample consisted of (1880) Bahraini young people who follow Omar Farouk's channel on YouTube and (32) episodes which were analyzed using content analysis. A questionnaire was applied to the sample.
The results show that (72.3%) of the study sample always follow the YouTube, and that (36.2%) of the sample have a special channel on the YouTube. The results also show that (62.6%) of the sample know about the voluntary activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and (65.7%) of the sample said they would volunteer if there was a need to do. The results also show that (85.4%) of the sample always follow Omar Farouk's channel on YouTube and 99.0% of them are impressed with the ideas presented through the channel about voluntary work. The results of the content analysis show that the attitude of all the episodes on the channel was positive.
The results also show that there is a positive correlation between following the YouTube and getting influenced by the voluntary work among the young people in Bahrain, and that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between getting influenced of what was published on YouTube about volunteering and the willingness to do voluntary work.
