English Abstract
Research Summary:
This study aimed at inspecting the effectiveness of a linguistic skills training program to improve the level of linguistic performance of presenters of the Ministry of Information Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The study followed the experimental methodology with a sample of (9) full time and part time presenters with work experience between one-six years. These samples were divided into (3) equal random groups. The implemented program included (3) sessions for each group that was of approximately (20) minutes in length. To analyze the data, SPSS Statistics Software was used. The results of the study:
showed that the sample of anchors found it difficult in pronouncing certain Arabic alphabets
showed that the sample of anchors made some grammatical errors
showed statistically significant differences in sounds articulation of the sample of anchors due to years of experience variable and the differences were leaned to the more experienced.
There are statistically significant differences in scripts' diacritics of the sample due to years of experience variable.
There are no statistically significant differences in sounds articulation, scripts' diacritics and vowels' length due to differences in gender of the sample.
During this experiment the researcher found that the program duration should be longer than its previous training duration, which was one hour a day for three day, compared to one month, two hours a day. The researcher also found that the program has to be applied to all new anchors, to minimize language errors such as, sounds articulation, scripts' diacritics and vowels' length.
