Attitude towards E-HRM System : An empirical study at Ministry of Interior, Kingdom of Bahrain

Abstract:

Implementation of electronic human resource management (e-HRM) system presents a variety of challenges to the organizations. Employees’ underutilization of new information system challenges organization’s efforts to gain benefits from such systems. In spite of the fact that e-HRM system offers important benefits for the organization as whole, organizations will most likely be unable to overcome the resistance of people who do not perceive those advantages as being especially beneficial to themselves. Using a research framework based on Technology Acceptance Model, this study examines the relationship between HR employees’ attitudes (perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, social influence, facilitating conditions, user support, and user satisfaction) and attitude towards electronic human resource management (e-HRM) system at Ministry of Interior.

An online questionnaire hyperlink was sent to 150 HR employees of Ministry of Interior to their emails in order to find out their perceptions about the e-HRM system and only 118 questionnaires were completed. The questionnaire comprised 36 questions and included variables such as perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, social influence, facilitating conditions, user support, user satisfaction, and attitude towards e-HRM system.

Spearman correlation analysis indicated that HR employees’ attitudes have significant positive relationship with attitude towards e-HRM system.

Finally, the study proposes that the organizations have to understand that the employees’ attitudes are essential towards electronic human resource management system to able to utilize the system for employees’ welfare and play an important role in the improvement of organization.
