Abstract: Emotional intelligence and its relationship to leadership behavior and professional compatibility of directors and heads of Departments of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia The study aimed to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership behavior components and professional compatibility of directors and heads of Departments of education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To achieve the objective of this study an instrument of emotional intelligence prepared by Osman and Rizk (2001), an Instrument of leadership behavior prepared by Fever and translated by (Dora, 1985) and an instrument of professional compatibility prepared by the researcher were used. Descriptive correlation approach was used to conduct this study. The sample of the study was composed of 83 managers and heads of Departments of Education in the Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The study was conducted during the academic year 2012/2013. The study showed the following results: 1- There is a positive correlation between all the dimensions of emotional intelligence and leadership behavior of members of the study sample. 2- There is a positive correlation between all the dimensions of emotional intelligence and Vocational Adjustment. 3- There is a significant different on the degree of emotional intelligence to respondents according to sex. 4- There are no significant differences on the degree of emotional intelligence with respect to years of experience qualification and their interaction.
